Season Of Plays 2018

2018 RONDO SEASON OF PLAYS

BOEING BOEING

BY MARC CAMOLETTI, BEVERLY CROSS, FRANCIS EVANS

DIRECTED BY FRANK JOEL             FEB 23 – MARCH 3

What’s life like in the jet setting fast lane?  It boils down to juggling timetable and a reliable maid who never forgets to change the photographs!  Oh what a twisted web!  A French flavoured farce.

SECRET BRIDESMAIDS BUSINESS

BY ELIZABETH COLEMAN

DIRECTED BY KEN COTTERILL           APRIL 27 – MAY 5

Bridezilla = obsessive-compulsive raving maniac.  Fast paced intelligent humour balanced with pathos reflects some of societies more absurd obsessions relating to relationships and that perfect wedding day.  Iconic Australian satire at its best.

MOVE OVER, MRS. MARKHAM

BY JOHN CHAPMAN, RAY COONEY

DIRECTED BY NARELLE SHOREY       JULY 6 – 14

A slick, frantic riot of risqué dialogue, looming scandal, mistaken identities and bed hopping madness.  In short, madcap hilarity.  This is tried and true British farce.

THE NEXT ROOM OR THE VIBRATOR PLAY

BY SARAH RUHL

DIRECTED BY LYNN CROPP            SEPTEMBER 14 – 22

An insightful, fresh and funny play about marriage, intimacy and the dawn of electricity set in a society emerging from the Victorian constraints of acceptable behaviour.  Much more that a comedy of manners.

SANTA, THE ADVENTURE BEGINS

WRITTEN & DIRECTED BY NOELENE REES

DECEMBER, dates TBC

Santa takes a much needed holiday before his busy Christmas season but his reindeer return without him!  What has happened?  The Elves journey far and wide to find Santa to return to the North Pole to be ready for Christmas.  An Australian flavoured Pantomime.

Want to get involved with a show at the Rondo?

Auditions are called about 10-12 weeks before opening night, well before auditions we need volunteers for other aspects of a production. If you would like to become involved in any way other than acting in any of our productions, please complete the following form and your information will be forwarded on to the director.

List of Production Jobs Available, check ones of interest:-

PRODUCER - You will have lots of little jobs to do right up to opening night. Cast members love a good producer, you will makes sure small milestones are achieved along the way. Being organised is the key to being a good producer. You will be mentored as you produce by an experienced producer from the Rondo.

SET BUILDERS – Some sets are minimalist others are complex, in 2016 we will be using a new connection system making all components modular.

MARKETING – If you can think outside the box and are well organised this may be for you. Some shows are easy to market others are more challenging, depending on the content. Ideally we have a few people where each looks after something specific for each show to lessen the burden on one person only.

STAGE MANAGER – When you call the show you are the boss, from beginning to end. You will coordinate all aspects of a show to ensure the successful delivery of the performance. In order to do this, you must have excellent people management skills.

PROPS – The props person needs to find out from the director and set designer: what they want, where they want it, how they want it, and what needs to be made. The props person is in charge of procuring, making, maintaining, and returning all the props in the play.
